Ranes glossary
Plain-language definitions for words used across Ranes.
These terms apply across Ranes. Feature-specific terms are in the Forms glossary and the Planners glossary.
| Term | Meaning |

| Job | A place or piece of work, such as a site, project, contract, building or client. Jobs are the main way Ranes organizes records. Your organization may use a different word. |
| Child job | A job inside another job, for an area, phase or building. Labels on the parent apply to its child jobs. |
| Group | A saved set of people, such as a team, crew, shift, department or trade. |
| Subgroup | A group inside another group. Work assigned to the parent group also reaches subgroup members. |
| Role | What someone can do in Ranes: Global Admin, User Admin, Billing Admin or User app only. |
| Label | A colored tag for sorting jobs and Log-Its. Documents have their own labels. |
| Time category | The kind of activity time is recorded against, such as travel, setup or maintenance. |
| Cost code | A billing or costing code. Each job has its own list. |
| Library | The reusable things you build: forms, planners, documents and training courses. |
| Workspace | The Portal's view of work, organized by job. |
| Assignment | A request for people to complete a form or planner, once or on a schedule. |
| Work item | One piece of work someone owes, from any feature. Work items fill My Work and the Work board. |
| My Work | The app's home screen. It lists everything you need to do. |
| Anytime work | Work with no due date that's done whenever it's needed. |
| Submission | A completed form, or a completed run of a planner. |
| Log-It | A photo-based record of something seen, found or done. |
| Time entry | One period from tap in to tap out. Also called a shift. |
| Tap In check | A form that must be completed before someone can tap in. |
| Fit for duty | A confirmation, when tapping in, that you're able to do your work. |
| Course | A training course, either on-demand or a scheduled webinar. |
| Enrollment | A person's place on a course, with their progress and result. |
| Credit topic | A subject that courses award credit in. |
| Folder | A container for documents with its own access rules. |
