Planners glossary
Plain-language definitions for tasks, outcomes, open items, runs and more.
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Planner | The reusable plan. It defines the tasks and what each task needs. |
| Task | One step in the planner. Also called an inspection item in Inspection Planners. |
| Assignment | Sends the planner to people. It can be open-ended or repeat on a schedule. |
| Due date | A deadline created by a scheduled assignment. Each one is tracked for completion. |
| Submission | One run of the planner by a person or crew, with its outcomes and evidence. |
| Task outcome | What happened to a task: Completed, Couldn't complete, Doesn't apply or Not required. |
| Open item | A task that wasn't completed. It's included in the submission so the team can follow up. |
| Prerequisite | A task that must be done before another task, or before the planner can be submitted. |
| Shared planner | One run that everyone assigned works on together. Outcomes and forms are shared. |
| Criteria | The conditions an inspection item must meet, with a severity if they aren't met. |
| Control | An action that reduces a risk, such as a barrier, procedure or protective equipment. |
| Log-It | A photo-based record for documenting work or observations in detail. It can be linked to a task. |
| Tap in / Tap out | Start and stop your time clock for a task's time category. |
